About Gourmand

While gourmand now simply describes someone who takes great pleasure in consuming great food and drinks, it didn't always have this neutral connotation. Gourmand was once used to describe someone who was a glutton, devoting so much of their time and energy to food and drink that it became an addiction.

Did you Know?

Gourmand is sometimes wrongfully interchanged with chef, but they are not synonyms. A chef may be a gourmand, but a gourmand need not be a chef.
